Program areas at Ymca of Northern Colorado

Healthy living: the y advocates healthy living through programs that focus on spirit, mind and body. In 2022, 85,000 people were provided the supportive relationships and environments they needed to successfully pursue good health. Adults participated in diabetes prevention programs, physical rehabilitation, programs for parkinson's and cancer survivors, livestrong cancer support program, arthritis support, health screenings and lectures, fitness and social opportunities for active older adults, group exercise and specialty fitness classes, personal training and "spirit mind body" classes such as yoga and stretching. The y's emphasis on healthy living education is particularly important as our nation struggles with work/life balance and personal fulfillment. Our family programs bring families together, offer education, support, nurturing, and social networks that build relationships and strengthen family bonds. Many of our programs are bilingual so as to meet the needs of our community. See schedule o for additional details.
Social responsibility: the y provides a variety of programs that help people deepen positive values, learn the value of giving back, and commit to learning. The y partners with more than 20 local community organizations to identify needs and respond to them - such as programs for at-risk teens, after school volunteer work, leadership in training programs, internships, employment and values based programming. In 2022, the y engaged 6,000 youth and Young high school students in programs that developed social responsibility, strengthened the community, and helped build the foundation for generations to thrive. Youth development: the Ymca is a leader in nurturing the potential of every child and teen. Every year, the Ymca helps more than 50,000 local youth through programs such as before and after school care, school day off programs, after school enrichment classes in the local elementary schools, day and resident camping, youth sports, teen leadership camps and leadership programs, free water safety programs, swim teams and swim lessons. All Ymca programs offer a range of experiences that broaden cognitive, social, physical, and emotional growth. Expenses include subsidies and direct financial assistance that support 3 out of every 10 youth. For additional details of the impact of these programs see schedule o.
