Program areas at YMCA of Northern Rock County
Childcare - provides high quality child care by providing comprehensive activities for preschool through middle school age children drawing on diverse members of the community. This program provides both full and part time options to serve a wide range of scheduling needs.
Sports - this program area aims to enhance the lives of children and adults through sports-related physical activities and recreational opportunities that promote healthy spirit, mind, and body. Programs include basketball, flag football, floor hockey, indoor and outdoor soccer, t-ball, softball, baseball, volleyball, martial arts, swimming, gymnastics, handball, and racquetball.
Health and wellness - these programs improve the health and wellness of the community by encouraging and enabling adults and youth to live healthier lives through a combination of physical activity, nutrition, spiritual and emotional support, fun, fellowship, and friendship. Health and wellness programs focus on healthy spirit, mind, and body. In addition to utilizing Ymca resources, these programs also utilize collaborations with local health care providers to address issues such as diabetes, obesity and providing exercise opportunities for people with special needs.
Aquatics - provides a safe and friendly environment where individuals from infants to seniors discover the healthful benefits of learning to swim and regular exercise in the water. Aquatics programs build confidence, teach safety skills, enhance stroke techniques, increase fitness levels and endurance as well as provide fun recreation. Children learn in a safe, well supervised environment. Family involvement is emphasized and our family swim program gives adults and children shared time in the pool to appreciate one another and promote intergenerational relationships.
Community collaboration - the Ymca participates in numerous collaborative efforts to ensure that we are pursuing accomplishment of our mission through community outreach. Collaborative efforts enable individuals from many parts of the community the opportunity to participate in Ymca programs that will enhance their daily living. Some examples of these programs are: providing memberships to physically challenged individuals, providing a recreational outlet for group homes, providing fellowship and recreational opportunities for individuals in substance abuse rehab, providing recreational opportunities for school kids, community service, leadership, and team building.
