Ninety 90% are minorities from low income to extremely low income families and approximately % of students reside in households with 4-9 persons depending on very low earned income. Education: thurmond scholarships: this program provides college scholarships to te- entry women 24 years or older attending fullerton college or California state university fullerton. An emphasis is placed on women pursuing stem professions/careers. Such effort/support address the serious underrepresentation of women in the science, engine testing and technology field especially people of color. Bill mcgarvey scholarship fund: this program provides college scholarships to both men and women attending fullerton college who had to stop out of college studies in their younger years to help support their families.
Personal empowerment: prom project and community quinceaera: this program provides high school girls from low income families with new or gently used formals resulting in higher self-esteem, self-confidence and pride when attending their prom and their families are enabled to celebrate their daughters 15th day a very special cultural rite of passage. The program also draws involvement from charitable organizations such as the national charity league, sororities from local colleges, high school personnel and the community at large.
