Program areas at Youth Justice Fund
Upgraded to a larger office space in Ypsilanti, Michigan to provide a safe space for clients and hold workshops and training on site for our clients. This included technology, college readiness, and clinical/substance abuse classes.
Developed a peer-support program funded by the Michigan Justice Fund that provided direct services and psychoeducational support to returning citizens who were incarcerated as youth. This program, called "Trauma Informed Mentoring & Empowerment" (TIME), aimed to advance the lives of youth impacted by the justice system utilizing a trauma-informed approach to coaching, peer- support, and wrap-around services.
The Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation sponsored our Annual Summer Trauma Camp to go to Indian River, Michigan with clients to enjoy camping on the river and lake and clinical trauma workshops with licensed social workers, psychologists, and occupational therapists.
YJF assisted clients in obtaining licenses, vehicles, repairing vehicles, clothing, food, trauma informed care, experiential learning through camping and outdoor related activities, and housing by assisting with rent payments.
