Program areas at YOS
The purposes of Youth Outreach Services, Inc. are to establish, maintain and carry on programs that provide safe and caring homes and/or shelter; steer Youth away from crime and risky behavior; help Youth develop the skills needed to become productive adults; and to accept for such purposes any voluntary contributions and such other funds as entitled to under the laws of the state of Illinois.
The yos redeploy program is designed as a complementary component of the cook county juvenile courts juvenile detention alternative initiative (jdai), which has served as a national detention alternative reform model for over a decade. Like all jdai efforts, the program is founded on balanced and restorative justice principles, emphasizing building the minor's competencies, addressing accountability and responsibility to the victim, and ensuring the community's safety.
