Program areas at YWCA of Niagara Frontier
Before and after school programsupervised before and after school care for "latch-key" children ages 5-12 of working parents. Transportation is provided. The goals are to lower the number of children left alone, cover basic needs, and provide emotional security. In addition, a universal pre-k program is subcontracted from nys education for local school districts.
Services to women programprovides valued and much needed services for women which includes preschool, child care, peer/support groups, adult activities, adult classes, community concern issues, and advocacy for women.
Domestic violence programprovides direct services, advocacy, support and counseling to people affected by domestic violence living in the urban and rural areas of eastern Niagara county. The project's direct services include transportation of clients to court, clinic, counseling, advocate for client in court, with the police, landlord/tenant relations and with the school system. Provides public education through speaking engagements. Appropriate referrals to other service provides are made as part of client intake on the hotline.
Service to youths and teens programrecreational programs for youth and teens located in newfane and lockport. Teen groups are encouraged to develop a sense of responsibility, to become a part of their community and to build sociological relationships with their peers.
