Partnering in Medical Education: (1) eee Zimbabwe Medical Project in partnership with Rotary Club of Knoxville and Rotary District 6780 have supported the training of an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor team of Zimbabwe physicians. In Sept 2018 the official promulgation of the Zimbabwe AILS Trauma Training Program took place with an official signing ceemony at St Philips Training School in Bulawayo The ATLS Haining course was led by Zimbabwean Surgeon ATLS Instructors, who had undergone previ training and certification in South Africa by ATLS South Africa This traming and the course were supported by grants from the American College of Surgeons,(manual ATLSouth Africa (traming, instructors and equipment) University of Tennessee Medical Center (Trauma Surgeon Instructors teaching equipment) a Rotary District 6780/ Rotary Club of Knoxville District Matching Grant and a grant from the Zimbabwe Medical Project. nna eee anne
Partnering in Medical Education: (1.)Trauma Nurse instruction and international Certification We continue to partner with the University of Tennessee Medical Center and thei Trauma Center Training team who continue to teach via UT ATCN trauma training conferences transmitted via T 2 web video directly into the St Philips Training The Nursing Trauma Instructor team has now trained 160 new Trauma certifted nurses at the St Philips Nursing school — that have returned and are able to share their training and expertise treating trauma victims at their home hospitals and clinics all over Zimbabwe. Together with the ATLS Surgeon training (above) this Trauma Training Program is now attracting candidates from neighbouring Zambia Malawi and Mocambique Other partners include Rotary District 6780, Rotary Club of Knoxville, Society of Trauma Nursing and the University of Tennessee Medical Library who have helped in the establishment of a Trauma Library at St Philips in Bulawayo
Partnering in Disease Prevention and Treatment: Children's Nutrition Program and Eye Program Northern Matabeleland Qur partnership with Vitamin Angels to provide free Vitamin A and prenatal vitamins to the 230,000 people in the Northern Matabelelan continued in 2018 with the help of Wild4Life in distribution of prenatal mutivitamins to pregnant women and 2 Vitamin A to prevent blindness in 43,500 children under the age of 5, through the clinics in Northern Matabeleland and Binga District
