Program areas at Nashville International Center for Empowerment
The Resettlement Program resettled 240 refugees and 81 Afghan Evacuees in 2022. Services included finding housing for clients, setting up health appointments, enrolling children in school, enrolling in eligible benefits programs and referring to ESL classes and employment support.
The Employment Program provided support to approximately 280 clients in 2022. Services provided included skills inventories, on-line and paper job application support, resume development, workforce preparedness and English classes.
The Adult Education Program served over 800 clients in 2022. Services included English Language Learner classes (ELL), High School Equivalency preparation classes, work force preparedness and Citizenship instruction.
The Health Program served over 150 people in 2022. Services include health & wellness education, and orientation to the medical network in the United States. The program also supported intensive case management for clients with special needs. The services included referrals to social service agencies, referrals to physical and mental health professionals and emergency cash assistance.
The Youth Education Program helps provide refugee families, and those in the community serving refugees, with the skills and information needed for children of refugee families to success in their schools and communities. Approximately 175 students were served in 2022.
The Social Adjustment Program served over 350 people in 2021. Services include citizenship tutoring, assistance filling in immigration documents, additional referral services and interpretation. In addition, we administered cash assistance to families eligible under the CARES act.
