Program areas at Oregon Tradeswomen

Pathways to success: oti's trades and apprenticeship career class (tacc) is a 192-hour, Oregon bureau of labor and industries certified pre-apprenticeship class for women. Classroom instruction and field work help prepare women for a high skill, high wage career in the trades. With a focus on apprenticeship, oti's pre-apprenticeship and employment readiness training progam prepares adult job-seekers for a successful career in the skilled construction trades.tacc introduces program participants to a variety of skilled trades through field trips, guest speakers, hands-on work days, and trades-specific training opportunities. The participants also learn about registered apprenticeship; an "earn while you learn model" which is often the next step to career pathways in the construction industry.oti's training program is offered at no cost to job seekers. Individuals successfully completing the program receive a certificate of completion recognized by industry registered apprenticeship training programs and employers.oti career counselors assist tacc graduates with their job search and application to apprenticeship training programs and employers. Oti career counselors also offer individualized employment counseling throughout the entire course of the graduate's trades career.in 2022, the organization expanded tacc to communities in redmond, Oregon, and plan two more in 2023 - springfield, Oregon, and the dalles, Oregon. This has enhanced outreach to especially rural and to indigenous communities.career fair: the largest non-traditional event of its kind, Oregon Tradeswomen produces an annual career fair to help fill the imminent gap in the labor force that will be created with record-levels of upcoming retirements of skilled trades people, and to increase the overall number of women working in trades careers. While the organization did not hold the fair in 2022, otw did hold one in 2023 with great success.
Advocacy: oti gives Tradeswomen the skills and opportunity to advocate for equity in the trades. Through its core programs, Oregon Tradeswomen works to:-recruit, train, place and retain women in the electrical, mechanical, highway and utility trades-encourage middle and high school aged girls to learn about trades careers options through hands-on activities-address broader issues of economic opportunity, access to apprenticeship training and workforce development
Rise up (respect, inclusion, safety and equity in the construction trades) is a respectful workplace program designed provide all workers with the tools and support necessary to create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and productive environment for everyone. Rise up provides industry best practice workplace consulting and training to help contractors and sub-contractors create an environment of productivity, safety, and equity in construction management and on work sites.
