The St. Martin, Iberia, Lafayette Community Action Agency, Inc., or SMILE (as it is widely known by its popular acronym), serves as the primary provider of social services in a tri-parish region. Chartered as a 501 (c)(3), tax-exempt corporation in 1968, the Agency is headquartered in Lafayette. This year, the Agency celebrates its 48th anniversary. SMILE Community Action Agency serves as a clearinghouse for community needs, with a focus on health, education, economic stability, and the betterment of all disadvantaged individuals, children and families that we encounter.

Home energy assistance provides direct utility payments to home energy suppliers on behalf of eligible households particularly the elderly and disabled.in this fiscal year 4,009 clients were assisted with their utility bills
The Community services block grant program (csbg) provides various direct program services to the needy and defrays a portion of the Agency's administrative costs
Emergency rental assistance program- us dept of treasuryto provide rental and utility assistance for low income households affected by covid 19. In this fiscal year 1,493 clients were provided assistance.
