As the Region's primary marketer, Richmond Region Tourism warmly welcomes meeting planners, tournament organizers, tour operators, travel media and leisure travelers. A nonprofit organization, Richmond Region Tourism offers a comprehensive array of information and services to assist the Richmond Region hospitality industry in benefiting from the powerful economic engine that is tourism. The mission of Richmond Region Tourism is to grow the economy of the Richmond Region by attracting conventions, meetings, and visitors and ensuring that all have a great experience.

Program areas at Richmond Region Tourism

Tourism communications - the Richmond Region hosted over 17.5 million vistors 10,850,000 day trips 6,650,000 over night trips in 2022 who spent 3.5 billion. Many of them are tourists. The promotion of the destination is through hosting travel writers, attending trade shows, meeting with tour operators and bus companies. Richmond Region Tourism produces maps, vistors guides, newsletters and maintains a website in order to promote the destination.
Community relations - the community relations department formed in 2012 to increase Richmond Region tourisms relevancy locally by establishing a solid, well regarded presence for Richmond Region Tourism in the local community. The department drives meeting and Convention business by generating interest within the Richmond Region, supports leisure travel by enhancing the visitor experience and augments the organizations budget by securing sponsorships and partnerships.
Conventions - actively soliciting groups to hold state, regional or national meetings in the Richmond Region. In fiscal year 2022-2023 we booked the following - estimated economic impact 74,920,181 associated hotel room nights 85,758.
